PINE TREE SLACK KEY - From early morning surf checks to lunch breaks and sunset reveries, we find shelter at the beach in the comforting shade of the ironwoods. Fishing or shelling, spending time with family, friends and lovers, the pine trees are companions we share with the ocean, land and sky, and a place to go to find the inspiration that increases our appreciation of this island life. Looking back on a lifetime of musical influences, this recording is largely a tribute to my favorite Hawaiian artists whose creative talent grew directly out of that appreciation.
